Actress Natalie Portman was able to draw a line between her public persona and her private life, thanks to her screen name.

The 26-year-old actress, who's real name is Natalie Hershlag, said that she created a stage name for herself because she wanted to lead a normal childhood.

The 'Zoolander' star who found fame at the age of 12 in 1994 film 'Leon', added that having a screen name was like having an alter ego.

"It was like having an alter ego. I was able to keep my public persona controlled and let the messiness be in private. I could be a human being," Contactmusic quoted him, as saying.

"I don't want to have a perfect life, but I know my actions may affect or influence people, and there is a little bit of responsibility in that," she said.
