Ghastly major gets warm reception at university

These students are majoring in mortuary science at Changsha Social College, and this subject has drawn more and more attention in recent year because of the difficulty and fierce competition in pursuing the traditional majors.

Students learn about funeral design, elegiac couplet writing, graveyard design and make-up skills for the corpse.

Some universities in Beijing, Changsha, Chongqing and Wuhan have developed this major and in some cities offer the professional mortician certificate.
