The photo published on Friday, April 9, 2010 shows that more than 20 pits have formed in a dry pond at the foot of a mountain in a village in Hezhou city in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Due to insufficient rainfall in southwest China, the shortage of drinking water is becoming worse as the drought drags on. Some of the pits cover less than one square meter, while others cover more than 12 square meters. How these pits are formed is still being investigated. [Photo/pic.people.com.cn]
