8 hurt in Cathay Pacific emergency landing

Airline officials say a Cathay Pacific flight from Indonesia has made an emergency landing in Hong Kong, and eight passengers have been injured.

The airline said in a statement that the Airbus A330, which originated in Surabaya, Indonesia, safely touched down at Hong Kong International Airport Tuesday afternoon. The 14 crew members and 309 passengers were evacuated as a precaution.

Cathay Pacific Chief Executive Tony Tyler told a news conference that the plane suffered from engine problems.

Tyler said eight passengers have been hospitalized.
