World's first genetically modified buffalo

A genetically engineered buffalo has been born in the research base of Guangxi University in Nanning, the capital of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, Dec 19, 2010. The animal is the world's first cloned buffalo which was created by a project led by Dr Shi Deshun, the director of the university's Animal Science and Technology Institute. The newborn indicates Guangxi is taking the world lead in maintaining the technique for cloning genetically engineered buffalos. [Photo/CFP]
