A barber picks the ear of one customer at an overpass of Qingchun Road, in Hangzhou city, East China's Zhejiang province. The barber's customers are comprised of mainly migrant workers and sometimes garbage collectors for the low fee at two yuan for each hair cutting, shaving or ear picking. The barber said he thinks his service is valuable and meets the needs of the lower income groups. Hangzhou city is famous across China for its beautiful natural scenery. It is also known for its high living costs as well, and as a result, different social groups with diverse incomes require different levels of hairdressing services to meet their own needs.[Photo/CFP] |
