A lesbian couple, 36-year-old Dongdong (alias) and 30-year-old Qiqi (alias), stand together at their wedding in Shenzhen city, South China's Guangdong province on Jan 4, 2013. The date has a similar pronunciation in Chinese to "love you for a lifetime". The couple finally got the approval from their parents for their marriage after experiencing a lot of struggles, becoming the first lesbian pair to hold a public wedding. [Photo/nandu.com]
"No matter my child marries a man or a woman, she is still my daughter and I can just think that it (the marriage) brings me another daughter, which is also a thing of happiness," said Dongdong's mother, who once opposed this relationship.
Presently, homosexual marriage has not been granted by law in China, meaning such marriages are not officially certified.
