Naval commandoes from China’s 14th escort fleet board a launch boat to conduct a combat rescue exercise on March 10 in the Arabian Sea. The drill, under the command the missile destroyer Harbin, simulated a coordinated rescue operation involving naval airmen and commandoes in response to a distress signal sent out by a “hijacked” commercial ship, played by the supply ship Weishanhu. The escort fleet comprised of three ships - the missile destroyer Harbin, the frigate Mianyang and the supply ship Weishanhu - carrying two helicopters and 730 troops. [Photo/Xinhua]
