Qingming Cultural Festival opens in C China

A ritual to honor ancestors is held at the opening ceremony of the Qingming Cultural Festival in Kaifeng city, Henan province on April 3. The festival this year features performances, Song Dynasty dresses and honoring ancestors. Qingming Festival, or Tomb Sweeping Day- which falls on April 4 this year - is a national festival stretching back more than 2,500 years for people to honor and remember their deceased loved ones at cemeteries and memorials.
