Nine men in Pan'an county, China's Zhejiang province, participate in the traditional activity "Lianhuo", or walking on fire, Nov 1, 2014. The ritual, involving walking barefoot over burning charcoal and fanning the flames with shovels, is more than 1,000 years old and was listed in the Intangible Cultural Heritage of the province in 2005. People believe the ceremony will help them ward off evil spirits and bring in good fortune.
