The 2007 film awards season got off to a running start with the Screen Actors Guild nominations last week and the New York Film Critic's Circle Awards on Sunday, January 7, held at The Supper Club in midtown Manhattan.

The New York Film Critic's Circle Awards, which, like the Golden Globes are often viewed as an indicator of potential Oscar nominees, have been awarded annually since 1935 by the organization, composed of film critics and reviewers from New York-based publications.

This year's winners included "United 93" for Best Film, Martin Scorsese for Best Director for "The Departed," Helen Mirren for Best Actress in "The Queen," Forest Whitaker for Best Actor in "The Last King of Scotland."

Jennifer Hudson's performance in "Dreamgirls" earned her the award for Best Supporting Actress while Jackie Earle Haley won the Best Supporting Actor honors for his performance in "Little Children."

Hollywood heavyweights Matt Damon and Leonardo DiCaprio, who both starred in Scorsese's "The Departed," were on hand to lend their support, while Jennifer Hudson looked smoldering in a black empire waist gown paired with an elegant, long silver chain necklace.
