Meryl's girl Mamie models herself on her talented mum
Her ease in front of the camera may owe something to her starry heritage. And it's just as well since Mary Willa Gummer - the daughter of Hollywood legend Meryl Streep and sculptor Don Gummer - has chosen to follow her mother into a profession that she recognises can be extremely hard.
Eighteeen months ago Mamie, as she's more commonly known, took her first steps in the acting game with the Broadway play Mr Marmalade and is currently raising her profile with some modelling work.
On the shoot for High Street chain Mango the young actress shows off the retail outlet's bright, colourful creations with an air of confidence. Asked whose style she most admires the pretty blonde names "all the Kates! Kate Hudson, Cate Blanchett and Kate Winslet".
But despite the 23-year-old's modish appearance these days, jeans and sneakers were the outfit of choice growing up in rural Connecticut with an older brother and two younger sisters. Mamie and her siblings' parents made sure the four had a normal, quiet upbringing. And her mother has always made an effort to leave Tinseltown behind once the cameras stopped rolling. "At home she's not Meryl Streep - she's Mum; she's great and I love her a lot," says Mamie.
