With its 2017 spring/summer runway show at Milan Fashion Week recently, this Italian house is becoming a byword for minimalist, elegant aesthetics, Sun Yuanqing reports.
It is never easy to gain a foothold in the world of luxury fashion. But Giada, a young Italian luxury brand, is showing how it can be done in an "effortless" way.
Following its runway debut in February, the brand held its 2017 spring/summer runway show at Milan Fashion Week recently.
Inspired by the works of the late American artist Barnett Newman, the collection translates the artistic reference using geometric lines and pure colors, with an emphasis on effortless chicness.
The brand's signature palette of white, grey and black is illuminated by pops of mango orange, adding a touch of freshness for spring and summer. Fabrics like silk and leather are enhanced with draping and pleating, embellished with subtle geometric jewelry.
The modern, all-white runway for the Milan show was set within the historical space of the national library Biblioteca Nazionale Braidense, creating an interesting contrast between the old and the new.
"This collection speaks about effortlessness and serenity, but in a modern way," says Gabriele Colangelo, creative director of Giada, before the show.
"There is this relaxed soul that you can see in the shape and the selection of the fabrics."
The collection features silk dresses, shirts and coats, offering a day-to-night wardrobe for modern working women.
Giada's minimalist, elegant aesthetics are illustrated with fluid lines and relaxed silhouettes.
The shoes come with small heels that are easy to walk in. The bucket leather bags are masterfully constructed and secured with a bold zip.
