Shanghai offers homegrown Chinese design spirit

Shanghai-based Sirloin is the creative baby of the Japanese-Swedish duo – Mao Usami and Alve Lagercratz. The designers, who believe in a philosophy rooted in humorous criticism of everyday life, aim to redesign the wardrobe "inside out". One concept is the design of underwear to match daily outfits.
The label’s Spring/Summer 2018 collection showcased extremely asymmetrical tailoring and deliberately redundant accessories, such as three belts and two sleeves, all echo the duo’s aesthetic of "stupid elegance".
