The documentary series "A Bite of China II," produced by China Central Television (CCTV), will air during prime slots on CCTV channels every Friday.

The documentary, a sequel to the successful 2012 documentary "A Bite of China" about Chinese food culture, will continue to explore the relationship between people and food, said chief director Chen Xiaoqing at the premier on Tuesday.

"We hope that, via the sequel documentary, more people around the world will have a better understanding of Chinese tradition and social changes," said Chen. "The audience will observe the traits of the Chinese people: frugality and tenacity."

The documentary includes eight episodes and will cover stories of more than 150 people and over 300 types of food. Hot topics, such as higher education, will also be discussed in the documentary series.
