Sweeten up and fly right

COFFEE, MY LADY?

Why wait until after dark to show you care? Bring her out for a stroll on the Bund and then wander across to one of Shanghai’s most iconic buildings, the Fairmont Peace Hotel.

With names like Angel’s Kiss, Romantic Rose and Pink Lady, how can you possibly resist the iced coffee creations at Victor’s Café? Buy your sweetheart an afternoon cooler as part of the first act to a hot date.

While the Pink Lady will please most girls, there is a lot of appeal, too, in the appropriately named Romantic Rose that uses a very aromatic floral syrup in the coffee.

There are also classic ice creams like a banana split, or a fusion creation made from tiramisu, cookies and cream.

For seasonal flavors, go for the Mango Cutie and Hawaiian Summer.

MESSAGE IN A PASTRY

The cronuts at the Shangri-La Pudong have already had several moments of fame since they first started selling them. These delicious croissant-doughnuts were the latest fads out of New York and quickly picked up here.

If you want to sweeten the day, go early to the hotel and grab a box of their special sweetheart cronuts. These fluffy pink pastries will definitely earn you some brownie points, if you forgive the mixed metaphors.

The Gourmet bakery is catering specially to lovers with a decadent spread of chocolates, cronuts and heart-shaped cookies and cakes.
