Second, the French meaning of Mouton is the same as sheep in Chinese, and it's the year of sheep, which is why the auction is being held a couple of days before the Chinese New Year, Rothschild adds.

Chateau Mouton Rothschild was owned by Baroness Philippine de Rothschild (who died on 22 August 2014), her son Philippe Sereys de Rothschild has succeeded her as Chairman of the family company’s Supervisory Board and works closely with his sister, Camille Sereys de Rothschild and his brother, Julien de Beaumarchais.

Chateau Mouton Rothschild spans an area of 83.8 hectares and sits to the northwest of Bordeaux and on the edge of the Medoc peninsula.
