Meituan began as a group purchase business in 2010, but has since grown with an extensive network of vendors. In the past, it has collaborated with Dianping, China's largest dining directory with huge catering resources. The app, which is owned by Chinese company Tencent Holdings, is not just big in Beijing, Shanghai and other big cities, it is also expanding to small cities and towns throughout China.
