Emerald 'Manchu Han Imperial Feast' dazzles Kunming
A table full of popular dishes from the Han and Manchu people of China was presented in Kunming, Southwest China's Yunnan province. The dishes, including Peking roast duck, braised fish and sliced boiled chicken, may seem appetizing, but they're definitely not edible. Carving master Zou Wantong spent a decade creating a feast of 50 Chinese dishes, estimated to cost up to one billion yuan ($146 million), only out of emerald. Zou's works are so lifelike that the color and texture of the dishes are near replicas of their real counterparts on the dinner table. [Photo by Li Yingqing and Li Xinyi/China Daily] |
