A 16-year-old girl is under arrest on suspicion of taking ketamine on the roof of a multi-storey car park in Tuen Mun.
A witness said she saw the student bent over on the floor of the car park of Lung Mun Oasis, complaining that she had a splitting headache.
A police spokesman said the department received a call at 2:44 pm reporting that a girl had collapsed at 43 Lung Mun Road. The girl was picked up and taken to Tuen Mun Hospital and then later arrested.
Ho Chi-keung, the principal of Ju Ching Chu Secondary School (Tuen Mun), said he had been informed a 16-year-old female student from his college had been admitted to hospital.
He said if tests show she had been taking drugs it will be the first confirmed case of drug taking among students at the school.
Ho said the student has fair academic results and behaves fairly well at school. He said the school will try to find out what motivated her to take drugs if indeed that is the case.
Yesterday's incident appears to have been the latest among a recent spate of youth drug abuse cases.
