Chinese shares closed mixed on Friday after six days of consecutive losses, while posting a 7.67 percent loss for April.
The major gauge index on the Shanghai Stock Exchange ended at 2,870.61 points, up 2.18 points, or 0.08 percent.
Total turnover shrank to 191.91 billion yuan ($28.1 billion) from 222.2 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
Losers outnumbered gainers by 664 to 216 in Shanghai and 748 to 165 in Shenzhen.
