Chinese urban residents' per capita income grows 7.8% in 2010

BEIJING -- The Chinese rural residents outpaced urban dwellers in their per capita income growth, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said at a press conference Thursday.

Ma Jiantang, director of the NBS, said the annual per capita disposable income of China's urban residents was 19,109 yuan ($2,900) in 2010, up 11.3 percent year on year, or an increase of 7.8 percent in real terms after deducting the price factors.

The per capital net income for rural residents was 5,919 yuan ($898) in 2010, up 14.9 percent year on year, or an increase of 10.9 percent in real terms after deducting the price factors, according to the NBS.

China's consumer price index, a main gauge of inflation, went up 3.3 percent in 2010 from the previous year, according to the NBS.
