BEIJING -- China's top land authority said Wednesday that land supply for the nation's affordable housing went up 24 percent in the first half of the year from the same period in 2010.
The Ministry of Land and Resources announced that land supply during the period for affordable housing reached 16,477 hectares.
To address the living issue of low and middle-income people in urban areas, the government plans to construct 10 million affordable housing units this year.
In the first six months, the total land supply for residential housing reached nearly 57,407 hectares, representing a 2-percent increase year-on-year.
