A report released by the trade union federation in Shenzhen on Wednesday shows 99 percent of new generation of migrant workers in the city no longer share their parents' love for the land; they want to find jobs in the city, the local Nanfang Daily reported.
The new generation of migrant workers, with an average age of 23.7, accounts for 73.8 percent of the 5,000 migrant workers polled, said the report.
They are the post-80s and post-90s generations, but distinct from their parents, they have higher levels of education; they strive for better working conditions and wages; and they hope to be part of the city life.
The report also finds 83.3 percent of those migrant workers are confident about their future despite facing big life pressures.
