Former tax official sentenced

The former chief of Enshi tax bureau in Hubei province has been sentenced to 10 and a half years in prison for accepting bribes of nearly 1.6 million yuan ($235,200), Chutian Metropolis Daily reported on Tuesday.

Liu Dingshuang, 55, has received about 1.3 million yuan, $2,000 and a Toyota SUV worth about 270,000 yuan, most of which came from local real estate companies and interior decoration companies during his tenure in office from 2003 to 2009. All the illicit items have been confiscated.

After his trial, Liu did not appeal.
