RAFAH, Egypt - Some 6,600 Palestinians have crossed the Rafah land crossing between Egypt and Gaza since it opened on June 1, a source at the Egyptian terminal said Friday.
The number included 4,500 people who crossed the terminal into Egypt, the source said.
Delegations from Egypt, Greece, Algeria and some other countries have crossed the border into Gaza to show support and solidarity with people in the besieged strip, the source added.
Humanitarian aid, including generators, ambulances, wheel- chairs, blankets and tents, have been transported to the enclave through the terminal.
Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak ordered the opening of the crossing indefinitely after Israeli forces attacked a Gaza- bound convoy of aid ships on May 31.
