ISLAMABAD -- About 50 people lost consciousness Monday night after eating problematic sweets at a wedding party in Rajan Pur, a city in the southern part of Pakistan's Punjab province.
A local journalist in Rajan Pur told Xinhua through telephone that about 50 people lost consciousness after eating some expired sweets at a wedding party in the city and they had been shifted to the District Tehsil Hospital for medical treatment.
Some of the people were said to be in critical condition, said the journalist. Another source in Rajan Pur said the sweets at the wedding party were bought from a bakery in the city. No further details are immediately available. The earlier reports by two local Urdu TV channels, Geo News and Ary, said 50 people died of food poisoning at a wedding party in Rajan Pur.
