Seeing increasing demand from both domestic and international markets, a Harbin-based pump manufacturer has strengthened cooperation with research institutions to develop new, high-performance products.

Harbin Qinggonglin Pump Co was established in 1988 as China's first professional manufacturer of high-performance self-priming pumps.

In 2010, Qinggonglin became a joint-stock company by forming a partnership with the investment companies Heilongjiang Chenneng HIT High-Tech Venture Capital Ltd and Harbin Innovation Investment Ltd.

The restructured company has worked with domestic and international research and design institutions, which ensured its leading position in China's new-generation self-priming pumps, according to Qinggonglin executives.

During the 6th Western China Chemical Industry Expo in Chengdu in April, the company forged cooperative ties with several design institutions in Chengdu.

The company said it has developed 10 series and hundreds of varieties of products that feature cost savings, safe operation and convenient maintenance.

It said it is also capable of developing tailor-made products according to customer specifications.

The company said many of its products have reached the internationally advanced level and filled a void in the domestic market.

Qinggonglin's pumps are widely used in the petrochemical, electricity, sewage treatment, fire-fighting, irrigation and drainage industries.

Company executives said global demand for self-priming pumps will increase 6.5 percent annually and generate a yearly sales revenue of $69 billion by 2014.

They said most of the demand will come from the Asia-Pacific region, with China accounting for 43 percent of the global total.
