President Xi Jinping announced a 500-million-yuan ($81.7 million) assistance package for the fight against Ebola as China continues its commitment to preventing the spread of the deadly virus.

The latest package, the fourth round of China's donation program for Ebola control, comprising both cash and supplies, will go to the worst-hit countries, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea.

Xi said China would send more medical workers to help in West Africa.

On Tuesday, China made a $2 million donation to the World Health Organization, which will be used to support its work.
