Two sessions' voices
I believe the legislators discussed security issues very carefully when they drafted the anti-terrorism law, and so the security requirements for information are in line with international practice. Chinese companies will have to adhere to US and European regulations on information security when they conduct business in those places.
Wan Gang, minister of Science and Technology
In principle, a draft law has to be discussed by the legislators three times before it can be reviewed and passed. The draft of the law on terrorism had its second reading in February, so it won't make it in time to be reviewed during this year's NPC meeting. It will be put forward to the standing committee for a third reading in due course.
Wang Aili, director of the Criminal Law Office of the Legal Affairs Committee of the National People's Congress Standing Committee
As an NPC deputy, I have handed in proposals about drafting the anti-terrorism law at the past two meetings. I believe the law will make the fight against terrorism more effective and reduce the number of attacks.
Aziz Musar, commissioner of Hotan prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region
The proposal to establish a joint intelligence-sharing mechanism will significantly improve the efficiency of anti-terrorism operations in the future. The police, armed police and the People's Liberation Army all have their own intelligence-gathering systems, but at present, they lack channels to share the information.
Qi Baowen, a former commander in the Xinjiang People's Armed Police who has dealt with many terrorist attacks in the region
