Xiaomi Corp has unveiled VIOMI X3, a smart water purifier weighing aroud 10 kg that can heat and purify drinking water in one second. Via an app, users can adjust water's temperature, monitor its quality and view other related information on their smartphones. Priced 5,999 yuan ($868), the VIOMI X3 is in a pre-sale phase on its online store. It will be shipped in one month.
Ultra-thin Asus business laptop weighs 1 kg
Taiwan-based Asustek Computer Inc has launched its new ultra-thin 14-inch business laptop Asus Pro B9440 in the Chinese mainland. Powered by Intel's Core i5 or i7 processor, the new gadget weighs only about 1 kilogram and can work for 10 hours on one charge. It also comes with a full high-definition display, up to 16GB of RAM and as much as 512 GB of solid-state storage. Priced from 8,499 yuan ($1,230), the laptop is now available on Suning's online shopping platform.
Small wireless TV speaker is big on features
Sonos Inc, a wireless-speaker maker headquartered in California, has unveiled Playbase, a new sound base that can sit beneath the TV. Priced 5,580 yuan ($807), it is available on Taobao and Tmall, Alibaba's online marketplaces. Weighing around 8.6 kg, the new TV speaker stands only 5.8 cm tall, 72 cm wide and 38 cm deep. It comes in two colors, white and black, and has 10 custom-designed drivers and amplifiers. The Playbase can support a TV weighing up to 34 kg.
Alta band sizzles with curvy screen, rich cell
Fitbit Inc, a fitness band maker, announced its latest fitness tracker, the Alta HR. Priced 1298 yuan ($188), it will be on sale later this spring. With a slightly curved touch-screen, the new device will automatically turn on or off according to users' wrist movements. Users can wake up the gadget by lifting the wrist or tapping on the display. The product can not only track steps, distance, calories and sleep, but also display notifications of incoming calls, calendar alerts and text messages. It can work for seven days on a single charge.
