Ronaldo becomes father of twins

China Daily | Updated: 2017-06-12 09:38

LISBON - Portuguese media on Saturday reported that Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo has fathered twins with a surrogate mother,

Reports said the babies - a girl and boy - were born last Thursday to a woman living on the US West Coast.

The captain of Portugal's victorious Euro 2016 team had his first son, Cristiano Jr, in June 2010 - also reportedly with a surrogate mother, although he has never confirmed it.

Ronaldo becomes father of twins

British tabloid The Sun reported in March that the quadruple Ballon d'Or winner was expecting twins.

The 32-year-old striker is currently dating Spanish model Georgina Rodriguez.

The reports come after a twin-heavy week in the celebrity world, after US actor George Clooney and his human rights lawyer wife Amal welcomed newborns Ella and Alexander.

On the pitch, Ronaldo continued his electric scoring pace.

Less than a week after tallying twice in Real's 4-1 win over Juventus in the Champions League final, Ronaldo netted another two in Portugal's 3-0 win at Latvia in Group B of World Cup qualifiers. He has 73 goals in 139 appearances for his country.

Captain cherishes 'special' moment

Harry Kane was beaming after scoring a dramatic equalizer in his first game as captain to earn England a 2-2 World Cup qualifying draw against Scotland on Saturday.

Two Leigh Griffiths free kicks left England facing a first qualifying loss since October 2009, only for Kane to convert a volley in the 93rd minute, set up by substitute Raheem Sterling's cross from the left wing.

"It is a special day," said Tottenham Hotspur striker Kane, whose side took the lead through Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the 70th minute.

"To be 2-1 down in stoppage time and get that goal is special. I was trying to get good contact on it and side-footed into the net.

"You have to expect the unexpected and we were 2-1 down from nowhere, but we found another gear.

"It is a good point away from home. Scotland is no easy place to play."

Despite the disappointment of missing out on a first victory over England since 1999, Griffiths said Scotland would draw strength from its strong performance.

"I practice the free kicks every day in training," said the Celtic striker, who had never previously scored for his country.

"It's not often they come off. It's special. This could end up being a big point for us.

"On our day we can match anybody. We know how good this England side is, but we have four games left and we could win all of them."
