Rocker Bono brought Los Angeles mall The Grove to a standstill yesterday (17SEP06) when he launched his new special edition T-shirt line, One.

The U2 star stunned shoppers as he met with 200 lucky fans at the charity launch in Nordstroms.

Bono is hoping to save lives in Lesotho, Africa by selling the T-shirts.

The U2 star has recruited celebrities including LINDSAY LOHAN, NAOMI WATTS, ROSARIO DAWSON, GARY OLDMAN and KATE BOSWORTH to model the new One poverty campaign shirts in print ads, shot by pal and former model HELENA CHRISTENSEN.

The T-shirts, which were designed by Bono's wife ALI HEWSON for the couple's Nude clothing label, are all being manufactured at a factory in Lesotho, where HIV and AIDS is rife.

The Irish rocker hopes that jobs his new T-shirt line create will help improve conditions and the quality of life for thousands of struggling Africans.

He says, "The money spent on this T-shirt could save a life."

The Los Angeles launch followed one in Chicago, Illinois on Saturday (16SEP06).

Bono will donate $10 (GBP5.50) of the $40 (GBP22.20) price tag on each T-shirt to a fund that pays for AIDS medication and medical care for the very factory workers who make the shirts in Lesotho.
