China's bronze sculptures

Originating in the Shang and Zhou period of China’s feudal history, the bronze sculpture is characterized by its casting and molding and, most of the time, adopts religion as its subject matter. Bronze statues usually exhibit a grave and dignified bearing. Some historically important art pieces include the Simuwu Rectangle Ding of the Shang Dynasty (16th century-11th century BC) and the Horse Stepping on a Swallow of the Eastern Han Dynasty (25-220AD).
