It's the year of the rabbit in China, and it's promising to be a good one for the furry creatures. Whether it's rabbit pets, handicrafts or even rabbit-themed games, people across the country are getting in on the bunny fun.

The animal of the year. And the furry creatures are enjoying their moment of glory.

In Hangzhou city of eastern ZheJiang province, people crowded local pet stores with an eye on the bunnies. The store offers a wide variety of different breeds of rabbits -- some with longer ears, some small in size, and some sporting different colored fur.

At each store, about fifty rabbits are finding new owners each day.

Hangzhou Resident, said, "It's very fun. It's the year of the rabbit so I came to see rabbits."

Not only is keeping rabbit pets a new fashion, all kinds of rabbit-themed products have been hot-selling items during the holiday.

In Fuzhou, the capital of eastern Fujian province, lifelike rabbits made of sugar were a big hit.

Fuzhou Tourist, said, "She likes rabbits very much and this year is the year of rabbit. She feels very happy."

Fuzhou Tourist, said,"My child was born in the year of rabbit. When I was a kid there was lots of stuff like this, but now it's not so common. So I bought one to bring good luck!"

Also in FuJian, a garden party with the theme of rabbit was staged at the provincial science center. From postcards to games, it seems everything is linked to the rabbit.

Here, the favorite game of children is the "hare-tortoise race". Children wind their way in racing cars and see who can get to the end point first.

There are also robot rabbits, which allow children to experience the fun of operating a robot themselves.

A combination of entertainment and learning. It seems rabbits are truly friends with children.
