* Don't forget the bathroom. Try to have an open window that allows fresh air and natural light in. Use good quality materials like mosaic tiles in the bathroom.

* Make the kitchen central to your home. To have an island in the middle of the kitchen is typically Italian.

* Light is important. Make sure the public space is showered in natural light. If the public space doesn't have access to natural light, opt for spot lights with dimmers.

* Be passionate about what you are doing. It's important to make your property feel like a home.

* Be environmentally friendly. If you want marble, use local marble.
