West and East meet
The Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra has partnered with leading artists from home and abroad since its 2009 founding. They include Kraus Weyse, Lior Shambadal, Joseph Silverstein, Tan Dun, Lang Lang, Wang Jian and Liao Changyong.
It has performed such works as Symphonic Suite Grand Canal and Rachmaninoff's Symphony No 2 at the National Center for the Performing Arts and Beijing University.
Its upcoming Shanghai program includes Liszt's Piano Concerto No 1, Richard Strauss's Don Juan and Stravinsky's Firebird Suite.

A fairytale moment
Germany's Consol Theater will present a play adapted from the fairytale Red, Red Shoes, by Hans Christian Andersen. The heroine, Franvera, is a lighthearted and carefree child, who dreams of becoming a dancer.
One day, she gets a special gift from her parents - red dancing shoes.
She doesn't notice the clouds of war gathering around her as she single-mindedly pursues her dream. But she realizes something is afoot when her parents whisper to her that she can no longer play with her best friend, Anna.

Hamlet the clown
Hamlet - the Clown Prince is an English-language adaptation of Shakespeare's play Hamlet presented by the India Cinematograph Company.
This reinterpretation features "improvised dialogue", coupled with clowns' hilarious antics.
