Young composers hang up the baton

The Young Composer Program of the National Center for the Performing Arts has had its last concert, at which the NCPA Concert Hall Orchestra performed works by six composers, who entered the final round of competition.

The six works, including Wang Zhiyi's The Vanishing River and Du Wei's Niao Qing Si - The Interruption of a Dream, were selected from 74 works by composers from China and abroad.

The National Center for the Performing Arts will commission new works from three of the composers, who will also have the chance to collaborate with the Philadelphia Orchestra, which shares a cultural partnership with the center. Judges include Chen Qigang (pictured), Guo Wenjing, Paul Meyer, Kristjan Jarvi and Joel Bons.
