Village ties link modern couple at their wedding

The bride's aunt ties an apron on the groom and washes his feet.

When entering the groom's house, the couple needs to step over a fire at the door, walking hand in hand and walk on a red carpet until they enter the bedroom. They need to face south when sitting on the bed. The bride's aunt washes the groom's feet, symbolizing washing away the old, in a basin where eight coins and two eggs are placed, which symbolizes the hope for fortune and a newborn child soon.

The aunt ties an apron to the groom in the hope that he will share the chores of the bride's family.

The couple, together with unmarried guests, eat dessert with jujubes and eggs inside, to hope for a sweet future and a quick pregnancy.

During the dinner, the couple toasts the guests one by one after the bride lights cigarettes for those who smoke.

On the morning of the second day, the family worships their ancestors at home. The groom plants a sapling, which they believe will bring good luck forever, in front of the house and the bride waters it with yellow rice wine.

On the third day, newlyweds' parents bring hand-made rice dumplings with sweet fillings, such as sesame, red beans and jujubes, to share.
