Artful master chef

Michelin-starred chef Pierre Gagnaire returns to his eponymous restaurant Pierre on March 11 for six days while the Mandarin Oriental is the host hotel for Art Basel. The restaurant will be exhibiting works from the UBS Art Collection, an important corporate collection of contemporary art, including works by Made-In Company (Xu Zhen), Lee Ufan, Cy Twombly and Sigmar Polke. Gagnaire, who was recently named the No 1 Michelin-Star Chef by 512 Michelin-starred chefs from around the world in Le Chef Magazine, says: "I am pleased to welcome such exquisite art pieces to the restaurant. The world of art, in which I include cooking, brings me joy and is a daily inspiration." He has prepared a special menu to reflect and pay tribute to the artists featured at Art Basel - dishes that will be offered through March 21.
