The first industry association regulation on the medical procedures that include tattoo, eyebrow and eyelash reshaping, and on the procedures to beautify scars left by medical operations, was released in Beijing during a news conference on Sept 13.

A professional committee under Chinese Association of Plastics and Aesthetics has organized experts across the country to draft the regulation, because the industry grows very fast and thus needs regulation to ensure its healthy growth, the news release said.

The regulation sets a series of standard operating norms and specifications for service providers and requires certain criteria for service facilities and professionals to practice in the industry, to reduce incidents and malpractice.

It also has detailed requirements on the use of devices and tinting materials.

Leading experts in cosmetic procedures, including Zhang Bin, president with Chinese Association of Plastics and Aesthetics, attended to news conference.
