Coventry University officials were recently in Beijing to promote the institution's progress in innovation and development, and its programs with Chinese universities.

The university from the United Kingdom works with more than 8,000 corporations and institutions around the world, so students have many internship opportunities. Its popular majors include automotive engineering and industrial design.

"Coventry University ranked 12th in the Guardian university league tables 2018. Also, our teaching is improving," says David Pilsbury, the university's deputy vice-chancellor.

According to him, the university's teachers have to first pass a course in how to teach. The university also has a union to provide courses for teachers.

"We also have a team that works to get feedback from students on whether we are meeting their needs," he says.

"We are creating global graduates who can function in a multicultural team. I'd like both returning Chinese and non-Chinese studying with us to have some work experience in China because it’s going to be very valuable," he says.

The university also has a center for transformative enterprise, which provides classes, incubation facilities and investment funding for those who want to set up a start-up.

The university is also working with Chinese universities on joint programs to boost communication between students and teachers.

For instance, it has a program on nursing with the Hubei University of Science and Technology, where Coventry University will teach one third of the program and teachers from China will handle the rest.
