Snoring can shatter your sex life! Updated: 2006-09-06 14:36 When it comes to the bedroom, it seems that nothing can put a crick in
a couple's sex life more than snoring.
The Great British Snoring Survey found that snoring can be such a bane in the
bedroom, and that it not only affects one in four couples, but also is the
reason why 25 percent of them prefer sleeping in different bedrooms.
50 percent of the couples surveyed also admitted that snoring affects their
relationship.
And, while most people are not willing to admit that they snore, the survey
found that the condition affects seven in ten men, and four in ten women.
Relationship expert Denise Knowles, from Relate, said that it was true that
snoring can affect a couple's sex life, as it was leaving them physically and
emotionally drained due to lack of sleep.
"People deprived of sleep suffer physically and emotionally. Sex is the last
thing you want when you¡¯re shattered,"The Sun quoted her, as saying.
Marianne Davey of the British Snoring and Sleep Apnea Association also
confirmed this and said that snoring can put a huge strain on relationships.
"Snoring can put a big strain on relationships. We get calls from women who
are absolutely in despair,"she said.
However, experts warn that excessive snoring is not something that should be
ignored for it can be a sign of ill health, with snorers more likely to have
high blood pressure.
Sleep apnea, an extreme form of snoring, is associated with higher heart
disease risk.
