Kate Moss at center of new London Portrait Exhibition(AFP)Updated: 2006-11-09 16:30
British supermodel Kate Moss is to be at the center of a new exhibition at
London's National Portrait Gallery, featuring work by some of the world's
leading contemporary fashion photographers. "By extracting the best of that world, we can see stars transformed through their collaboration with these photographers. Fashion surrounds us. It may sometimes irritate us but it has a place in society that is undeniable." Other stars to be featured in the show include the iconic French actress Catherine Deneuve, US actresses Sharon Stone and Angelina Jolie, plus the latter's current partner Brad Pitt. The nine pictures of Moss -- charting her transformation from her waif-like "heroin chic" look of 1990 -- were taken by photographers Corinne Day, Mario Sorrenti, Paolo Roversi and duo Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. Moss, 32, was recently named British model of the year at the British Fashion Awards. But 12 months ago, she made the front pages after being pictured allegedly snorting cocaine, leading to the loss of a number of lucrative contracts. The "Face of Fashion" exhibition at the National Gallery will run from February 15 to May 28, 2007.
