China's Vice Premier Wang Yang said to deputies to the National People's Congress from Jilin province that it needs to be responsible for increasing agricultural modernization and raising its farmers' income, on March 6.

At a panel discussion Wang joined, the Vice-premier praised Jilin for its socioeconomic development last year, and for its grain output of 35 billion kilograms as it has been a major grain producer with the highest per unit corn yields nationwide.

Wang went on to say that the central government will push agricultural modernization to raise farmers' incomes, as Premier Li Keqiang noted in a government work report this year and that, "Jilin needs to make a great effort in its agricultural and rural work."
