Wang Xiaoyan, an actress, dancer, and CPPCC member, is to carry three proposals on inheriting traditional culture and overcoming poverty to the 2017 Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, which opened on March 3 in Beijing.
Wang explained that cultural poverty alleviation is part of the poverty relief policy in China.
"I visited many underdeveloped villages, in which cultural coverage is urgent demanded," Wang said. "I hope to increase people's confidence in overcoming poverty and achieving prosperity through the power of culture promotion."
The annual performances in these villages are not enough to solve the lack of culture promotion.
Wang suggested that more cultural facilities and internet devices should be used to provide villagers more paths to know about culture.
She advised the government to encourage and select more cultural talents to enter these underdeveloped areas and help encourage villagers to overcome poverty.
Meanwhile, the public cultural services, including performances and lectures offered in rural areas, should be tailored to villagers' daily lives and localized.
Talent cultivation is also significant in culture promotion. Wang explained that every village should cultivate artists who can organize cultural activities and create grassroots cultural brands, through which more people can obtain cultural knowledge and enjoy happiness brought by culture.
She also shared views on making full use of red tourism and integrating it with the ice and snow tourism industry in Jilin province to attract more people.
