Volunteer barber serves seniors
Tutor Liu
Liu is quite good at barbering and is popular among his clients. More than 120 people, including those who had previously lost their jobs, have learned haircutting skills from him and carry on the virtue of caring for seniors.
Chen Yan, a laid-off worker, came to Liu's barbershop and chatted with Liu about his frustrations. Liu comforted him and accepted Chen as a student in his shop.
Chen was touched when Liu said, "If you would like to stay here (at my barbershop), I'll welcome you as family and offer you a decent salary."
Now, Chen is one of the longest members of the barbershop and has followed Liu to do voluntary haircutting work.
Liu has also established a volunteer group and call on people to join them.
The voluntary work has also involved not only haircutting, but also other tasks such as throwing away rubbish and buying vegetables for the seniors.
Liu said he wishes more people can become volunteers and care more about each other.
