The 12th China Changchun Summer Relaxation Festival kicked off on June 16 in Jilin province with 33 activities focused on spending a happy summer, and will last until Sept 3.

The opening ceremony was three days long, and offered a music festival, a parade and a summer living goods market.

After the opening ceremony, galleries, festival animation displays and art shows opened in Changchun. More than 200 calligraphers will attend the calligraphy and painting contest.

Sports enthusiasts can also participate in the marathon races and city orienteering event during the summer. The latter is a chance for people to take part in a game of discovery and exploration while running through the city experiencing its culture and scenery.

In addition, several summer travel tips in Changchun will be on offer. The event is sponsored by the Changchun government and the Jilin Provincial Tourism Development Commission.
