A book fair that opened at the Changchun International Conference & Exhibition Center in Northeast China's Jilin province on Aug 1 has seen overwhelming success, as 220, 000 readers have rushed to the fair over the past five days, hunting for their favorite "spiritual chicken soup".

The 2018 Changchun Book Fair, sponsored by the Changchun Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Press and Publication, has offered a record number of assortments, with over 200,000 publications provided by some 500 publishing houses and book stores across the country.

According to the sponsor, the sale volume as of Sunday exceeded two million yuan ($292,000) and publications about economy, social science, travel and foreign language were the best sellers.

Activities held during the fair also include presentations of new books, artificial intelligence products and creative products, as well as special-topics speeches and interactive exhibitions.
