Biomass energy is becoming the new driver behind Jilin's revitalization, according to experts at the First International Bio-based Economy Forum.

The two-day forum, hosted by the Chinese arm of the World Bioenergy Association (WBA) and the Biomass Special Committee of China New Energy Chamber of Commerce (CNECC), ended in Changchun, Jilin province on Tuesday.

Experts, scholars and government officials from home and abroad shared their insights on the theme "the development of new energy and the future of clean technology".

Cheng Xu, former director of the Science and Technology Department in the Ministry of Agriculture, spoke highly of Jilin's progress in the development of its biomass economy over the past few years.

"Jilin has abundant biomass resources," he said, pointing out that the development of the biomass energy industry will not only improve the local ecological environment, but also promote the revitalization of northeastern China.
